Description of Parks & Facilities

 

Sunset Park

Sunset Park is Elkhorn’s premier park. It offers a wide array of recreational activities, including sand volleyball, baseball/softball fields, basketball, picnic area, sledding hills and a handicapped accessible playground.  This is also the location of the Lions Den, new pool, Elkhorn Bandshell and the Recreation Building.  Sunset Park is located on Devendorf Street, West Centralia Street and Park Avenue.

New Heated Outdoor Pool

The new heated Sunset Pool opened this past summer and includes slides, basketball hoops, zero entry, geysers, handicapped accessibility, concessions, shade umbrellas and more! The pool is available for private party rental for your 2017 party planning. An exterior concession stand is available for all park users. Pool season passes make great gifts! Contact the Rec Department to reserve your party or purchase season passes!

Market Street Park

Elkhorn's newest park is located in Harvest Pointe Subdivision.  The park features play equipment, walking paths, and a shelter.  Market Street Park is located on Market Street and Heather Drive.

Harris Park

Harris Park consists of three baseball/softball fields, a concession stand, and a playground. The Summer Adult Softball Leagues are held at this park. Harris Park is nestled between Elkhorn Area Middle and High Schools and is located off of Wright Street.

Babe Mann Park

Babe Mann Park is Elkhorn’s largest park at 34 acres. Elkhorn Lake, located here, offers more passive activities such as canoeing and fishing. It also has picnic areas and trails to cross-country ski, hike or bike along. Swimming is prohibited. Babe Mann Park is located in the City Industrial Park on Proctor Drive.

North Broad Street Park

This is our neighborhood park where kids can go to play on the playground or play in the sand. North Broad Street Park is located at the corner of North Broad Street and Second Avenue.

White River Bike Trail

The White River Bike Trail is a 12.6 mile railway corridor that was transformed into a bike trail. The Elkhorn trail head is located off of Highway H. The trail runs from Elkhorn to Burlington. Trail passes are available at the County Highway Department and the Elkhorn Chamber of Commerce.

Rotary Soccer Complex

The Rotary Soccer Complex has two playing fields and also offers a concession stand, playground, and picnic area for those who need to take a break from a game. It is also the park where the Elkhorn Youth Soccer Club plays their games. Rotary Soccer Complex is located behind Tasch Automotive on O’Connor Drive.

Temlitz Park

Temlitz Park is different from the other parks in that it consists of a nature resource area. The walking path is a great place to enjoy bird watching or just for taking a “walk in the park.” Temlitz Park is located at the Dead End of Greenfield Street.

Recreation Administration Center

This 5,000 square foot facility houses the parks & recreation offices, a conference room and a large multi-purpose room.  The multi-purpose and conference rooms add much needed space for the recreation department to run their programs.

Lions Den

Located in Sunset Park, the Lions Den Pavilion is available for rentals.  This open air pavilion is available April through October and offers seating for 75.  Restrooms and electricity are available.

City facilities are available for the current calendar year for residents to enjoy a family get-together, anniversary or birthday party. Currently, the City has three outdoor facilities available for public use; the Lions Den, Babe Mann Park and Harris Park. On the first working day of the year, the Parks and Recreation Department will begin to take reservations for that year. All reservations are made at the Recreation Center (200 Devendorf St., Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm or by calling (262)741-5114).

The Rotary Lodge at Babe Mann Park has a capacity of 40 with six picnic tables inside, electricity and restrooms. This shelter may be rented May through October. The Lions Den has a capacity of 75 people.  The fee schedule is as follows:
