The City of Elkhorn Department of Public Works (DPW) is under
the direction of the Director of Public Works, Terry Weter.
DPW is responsible for overseeing the Streets Department and
Utilities. It currently holds 14 full-time positions, which
include the Director, DPW Secretary, and 12 field operation
personnel, excluding the Electric Utility staff (click here for more
information on City Utilities). Among the field staff, four
employees are assigned to the Water Utility, seven employees to
the Streets Department, and a mechanic provides support for all of
the functional units of DPW.
The responsibilities of the Public Works
Department include the maintenance and repair of the City
infrastructure, property and equipment. The Department also
provides emergency services such as snow and ice control,
water/sewer main breaks, and windstorm damage pick up.
The DPW administration office is located at City Hall, 9 S.
Broad Street. All questions concerning the DPW functions
